The Opportunity

Welfare Recruitment Solutions is assisting in the recruitment of an additional Exercise Physiologist due to growth of services within a highly respected and long-established community care provider.

The Position

Your focus will be to assist Seniors Over 65 in the Wollongong area to achieve optimal physical function, health and wellness through one-on-one clinical Exercise Physiology assessments. 
  
If you love autonomy and flexibility, then this will provide you with a role where you will travel to home-based consultations and assist in building a senior’s confidence so that their health and wellbeing allows for further independence living safely at home.  The position will further offer you to combine one-on-one assessments with running group exercise activities through their social group and wellbeing programs. 
  
The position will offer long-term security and could be either part time or full time. If you are able to work for 20 hours and upwards and if you are looking to drop hours under your current arrangement and pick up a new split opportunity or a new role altogether where you can work across 5 days (Monday to Friday) – no weekend work, this could be the role for you.

The Person

To be considered for the position you will need to demonstrate:  

  • Degree qualified Exercise Physiologist with ESSA Accreditation
  • Passion to work with and support Seniors Over 65

  • Full drivers’ license and own car fully comprehensively insured car and willingness to travel around Wollongong and Shellharbour.

The Role

In essence you will make a meaningful difference providing dementia advisory services through face-to-face and phone based assessments with persons living with dementia and their families in Darwin and the surrounding region. 

Aligned with a person-centred care approach, you will assess responsive behaviours one on one gaining a further understanding of the context of the behaviour, identifying unmet needs and providing evidence based behavioural management recommendations, interventions and strategies.

The Candidate

  • Alternatively, you may have stepped away from direct care in aged care management or educator roles and looking for senior position that offers autonomy and flexibility where you feel you have more to offer assessing, advising and advocating for persons living with dementia.
  • Knowledge and experience managing BPSD/behavioural psychosocial symptoms of dementia and astute in identifying unmet needs or triggers within different care environments
  • Warm and caring approach who can build rapport and trust with ease.
  • Avid learner who approaches the role with a thirst for dementia knowledge! If you are currently studying or completed further tertiary qualifications in Dementia Care, Gerontology or Health & Ageing it will be very highly regarded.
