The Client:
Welfare Recruitment Solutions have partnered with CatholicCare Victoria to assist in the recruitment of a Manager – Family Services, on a full time permanent basis. The role is to be based in Mildura with some travel around the region required.

The Role:
As the successful candidate your role will be to oversee Integrated Family Services and Kinship Care. You will directly manage two team leaders and a wider team of about 10 practitioners. You will ensure quality, viability, innovation and growth across the services and professional practice. You will build and maintain links with funding bodies and other stakeholders and help to support the team in their development and support them as required.

The Successful Candidate:
In order to be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Previous experience working in a leadership role ideally in family support, child protection or DFV
  • Degree level qualifications in social work, psychology or similar field
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team and people management
  • Strong understanding of a variety of theoretical frameworks and intervention strategies relevant to working with children young people and families
  • Drivers License

The Role

Taking a person centred care approach you will provide a face to face assessment service for persons living with dementia that are showing a responsive behaviour ensuring that their care services and needs are met.  You will have a warm, engaging and collaborative approach where you will look to understand their dementia journey so far and context of the change in behaviour whether it related to a psychosocial need or other needs or triggers within their environment that might be contributing to the onset of a change.

This is a personally rewarding opportunity where you advocate on behalf of the person living with dementia ensuring an improved quality of living and that further care and support is responsive to their individual and diverse needs through your recommendations, behavioural management strategies and practical interventions. This is also a wonderful opportunity to provide further knowledge insight in educating family members, upskilling carers and others involved in their care in how to successfully identify and manage behavioural psychosocial symptoms of dementia when you are not there.  

The opportunity looks to align assessments to where you live and we are looking for further Dementia Specialists who are up for a new challenge for 2025 to join the growing Bendigo team.  The position additionally offers autonomy and flexibility on assessment days where you travel to and from assessments from home where you are able to provide further support and a greater reach to persons living with dementia.

  
The Candidate

  • Strong aged care experience working closely with persons living with dementia in residential care, community or acute/sub-acute settings.
  • Experience working in a Senior Nurse/Lead, Clinical Care Manager, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Diversional Therapist or other dementia specialised roles like a Dementia CNC. 
  • Alternatively, you may currently work in an ACAT/AN-ACC Assessor, Aged Care Management or as an Educator and would really enjoy making a more meaningful difference assessing and advocating for persons living with dementia at different stages of their journey.   
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of different types of dementia, experience in successfully managing BPSD and astute in identifying triggers and unmet needs.
  • Further qualifications currently studying or completed in Dementia Care, Gerontology or Health & Ageing will be very highly regarded. Alternatively, you may be an avid self-learner in all things dementia care or in addition to your experience have a lot of learned dementia knowledge through courses, training and professional development.

Do you have experience in a child protection related role, an understanding of domestic violence and a passion for having a positive impact on children and young people?   • Experience in a child protection/family preservation type role.
